PARTICIPATING IN THE KICK-OFF MEETING OF ENHANCE PROJECT

, 18/03/2016 16:03

From February 22 to 24, 2016, Prof.Dr. Vo Van Sen, President of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities – Ho Chi Minh City and two representatives of the Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies had attended the kick-off meeting of the ENHANCE Project in University of Alicante, Spain. During the meetings, many issues related to the dissemination and implementation of the project had been addressed and discussed in detail by project partners, including HCM-University of Social Sciences and Humanities.

ENHANCE (strEngthening National researcH and iNnovation Capacities in ViEtnam) is a project conducted by 3 universities in Europe (University of Alicante – Spain, Slovak University of Technology – Slovakia, and Glasgow Caledonian University – Scotland) and 6 universities in Vietnam (including University of Social Sciences and Humanities – Ho Chi Minh City, University of Social Sciences and Humanities – Ha Noi, Can Tho University, Thai Nguyen University, An Giang University, Hue University of Agriculture and Forestry) with the purpose to foster and improve scientific research management and implementation of Vietnamese universities as well as to increase the capacity for doing research for research community in Vietnam. The project lasts for 3 years and be sponsored by European Commission and under the leading position of University of Alicante – Spain.

In this project, the University of Alicante (UA) with the support from University of Glasgow Caledonian (GCU) and Slovak University of Technology (STUBA) will train and deliver critical training programs for Vietnamese institutions, specifically 6 Vietnamese partners. Also, the participation and technological support from Ministry of Education and Training and Ministry of Science and Technology will play an important role in the success of the ENHANCE project. Each partner bears separate responsibilities and performs different tasks assigned by the UA; however, joint efforts and mutual supports among partners will be the key to every process of the project. Every task assigned is designed basing on the experience and capability of each partner. HCM-University of Social Sciences and Humanities will take the responsibility to create a network among higher educational institutions as well as governmental offices and private sectors in Vietnam. HCM-University of Social Sciences and Humanities will prepare and organize round tables and national workshops aiming at fostering and improving scientific research management and implementation in higher educational institutions in specific and scientific community in general, hence attracting more attention from different institutions in the country other than 6 Vietnamese partners of the ENHANCE project. Research and Innovation will be the sole target of this project.

Prof. Dr. Vo Van Sen, President of HCM-University of Social Sciences and Humanities stated firmly that this is a huge opportunity for not only University of Social Sciences and Humanities – HCMC but also Vietnamese universities in relation to creating a healthy and stable scientific research environment in the country, thus contributing to the development and growth of Vietnam. The President also emphasized the importance of training young scientific researchers since these generations will successfully form intellectual circles if trained properly from the very beginning.

The Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies are really honored to be representing the University of Social Sciences and Humanities – HCMC to participate in the ENHANCE project. Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies hopes to contribute our efforts to improve the management and implementation of Reseach and Innovation in the University. This is a significant milestone marking the integration of Vietnam towards the international scientific research and innovation community.
