Araba Gyan, a graduate student majoring in Public Health at the University of Michigan, recently completed the Vietnamese Summer Program at the Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies (CVSEAS). This program began in July 2023 and concluded in January 2024. Beyond her language studies, Araba worked on various public health projects at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Ho Chi Minh City, supported by the U.S. State Department's Boren Fellowship.
From June to August 2022, Phong Hong, a graduate student majoring in Public Health, University of Michigan joined the Vietnamese language program with CVSEAS . He is a fellow of the 2022 Summer FLAS. After two and a half months, Phong completed 140 hours of Intermediate Vietnamese level and got accepted to the Advanced Vietnamese course at Michigan University.
On 15 June 2022, Phong Hong, a 2022 FLAS fellow began his online Vietnamese program with the Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies. Phong is pursuing his Master degree in Computational Epidemiology & System Modeling at the University of Michigan. His aim is to refine his Vietnamese reading and writing skills as well as exploring public health policy in Vietnam, which will greatly benefit Phong’s research in the coming years.
