TOURIST – 3RD INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON SUSTAINABLE TOURISM DEVELOPMENT IN SOUTHEAST ASIA

During Feb 3 and 4, 2021 partner universities of TOURIST* project joined the broadcasted conference on sustainable tourism development in Southeast Asia via the Internet. The third international conference held by Kasetsart University (Thailand) is a part of TOURIST* activities - the project is funded by European Union through Erasmus+ Foundation. 
 

The 3rd conference with the topic “Sustainable Tourism: Building Resilience on Uncertain Times” is one of the most important events in the final year of the TOURIST project. Member universities participated in the conference via an online communication application. Participants of VNUHCM USSH included Prof Chung Hoang Chuong- International Research Center, Dr Tran Dinh Lam- Director of CVSEAS and other project assistants.

TOURISTS’s participants from the USSH are joining the 3rd international conference remotely. 
The conference started with an opening speech of the President of Kasetsart University (Thailand). After that, Dr Anita Macek- main coordinator (FH Joanneum University - Austria) presented the results of the project. After the opening session, the online seminar continued with eight sessions in two days, more than 30 summaries and research work were presented.
USSH’s participants are listening to the speaker's presentations on the 2nd day of the conference.
Prof Harald Armin Friedl, the facilitator of the two-day conference was in charge of coordinating meetings and presentations of speakers. Participants from EU, Thailand and Vietnam were very active in the discussion section. The success of the conference could not be made without the contribution from Dr Ania Macek- the conference’s organizer .Taking the theme of “resilience” - quick recovery for the tourism sector, many solutions and suggestions were proposed at the 3rd international conference to promote sustainable tourism in Southeast Asia post COVID-19.
 
(*) The full title of TOURIST project is “Competence centres for the development of sustainable tourism and innovative financial management strategies to increase the positive impact of local tourism in Thailand and Vietnam”. The project spans from 2017 to 2020 and is funded by Erasmus+ Foundation of European Union, coordinated by FH Joanneum University (Austria). Vietnamese university partners include Hanoi National University- University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Hue University and Ho Chi Minh City National University- University of Social Sciences and Humanities.
