At the opening ceremony of the conference, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Quoc Doanh believed that the industrial revolution 4.0 had widespread thanks to the efforts of many countries in digital transformation. This has led to the rapid development of smart and technology-centric cities. Vietnam is currently one of the major agricultural product exporting countries in the world. However, the Deputy Minister said that Vietnam's agricultural industry is subject to tens of millions of farmers with limited production scale, low technology level, and low labor productivity. They are vulnerable and can be easily affected by the stormy development of industries. Furthermore, in the context that the world is facing many global challenges such as the depletion of natural resources, lessening of cultivation acreage, earth’s warming, and growing economic disparity, it is very urgent to promote the application of scientific and technological advances in the economic sectors in general and agriculture in particular.

Mr. Vu Quoc Huy, Director of the National Innovation Center (NIC), Ministry of Planning and Investment, expressed his vision and aspirations towards the International Conference on High Quality Agriculture Vietnam 2022 in particular, and in general, Vietnam's Agriculture industry in the international markets. He also shared that in order to bring positive impacts to the community, NIC had connected hundreds of representatives, cooperatives, and businesses to attend the conference, listening and sharing ideas with domestic and international experts and scientists.

In his presentation, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Duy Luan, CEO and President of UZip, Associate Professor at the McCombs School of Business - the University of Texas at Austin, Huston-Tillotson University (the United States), provided some assessments addressing the global agriculture landscape. According to Prof. Luan, investments in agriculture 4.0 (AGTECH) are altering the agricultural value chain based on the "Industrial Revolution 5.0" idea. The blockchain, Internet of Things (IoT), and artificial intelligence (AI) are fields of extensive study throughout the world that Vietnam should link to in order to implement them effectively in its domestic agriculture. The implementation of 5.0 technology will help introduce a fair business model to Vietnamese agriculture and the worldwide agricultural chain, increase the efficiency of the global food demand-supply chain, and contribute to the settlement of the food shortage crisis.

With the theme "Application of technology 5.0 to innovate sustainable development of the agricultural industry and supply chain to improve the quality, distribution, and value of agricultural products in an effective and circular manner”, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Thuc. Member of Executive Committee of Vietnam Digital Agriculture Association, stressed the important role of “Logistic” in the agricultural value chain. According to her,  logistics services are integral bridges between agricultural production and consumption. However, the traditional agricultural value chain possesses several intermediaries in which logistics costs account for a high proportion. Therefore, she proposed the "Farm To Table Logistics" for each type of agricultural product that is suitable to the practical conditions of each region. She also emphasized the need for revision and improvement of existing policies and procedures, capacity development of digital transformation and automation at the freight forwarding spots of the agricultural product chain, and the need for global interoperable process synchronization in order to improve competitiveness and fairness among members of international trade organizations.

The conference has offered an exclusive opportunity for experts to exchange, discuss recommendations and solutions to turn ideas into specific plans, and contribute to promote Vietnam's agricultural industry to develop more sustainably and effectively.
