MEETING SESSION WITH STUDENTS AT BURAPHA UNIVERSITY, THAILAND

, 25/01/2019 15:01

At the invitation of Prof. Sakchai Setarnawat, Dr. Tran Dinh Lam – Director of Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies attended a discussion session with students of Faculty of Management and Tourism, Burapha University, Thailand.

Topics discussed in the session are as follows:

  • Tourism growth and sustainable economic development in Southeast Asia
  • Strengthening cooperation/sharing human resources in educational field and human training towards shared prosperity

During the session, Dr. Tran Dinh Lam shared some basic facts on Vietnam’s tourism potential including some of its magnificent natural sites. However, sustainable development of tourism required human resources who were specifically trained. Hence, cooperation with Thailand’s universities would open up many precious experience lessons from which Vietnam would learn.

Participants provided some solutions on how to encourage foreign Vietnamese contribution to the country tourism development. Specifically, friendly conditions are needed to transfer knowledge in training human resources. Other interested problems were identity conservation, development of ethnic minorities during the integration context and improvement of living standards.

Some of Bangladesh students also gave comments on how Bangladesh can learn from Vietnam’s successful economic reform to foster their own country development.

From 1970s, with the mindset of global integration and peaceful development, Prime Minister Chatichai Chohawan established the foundation for the development of the “Land of Golden Pagodas”. His pioneering works only helped to change the Indochina warfare into a market place but also open up paths for tourism development in Southeast Asia.
