Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ngo Thi Phuong Lan presenting at the ‘2020 Saemaul Curriculum’ training session
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ngo Thi Phuong Lan attributed South Korea’s great accomplishments in economy, society, and rural development to the understanding of and abidance by the three core values of the Saemaul spirit – “Diligence, Self-help and Collaboration”. Should Vietnam be able to apply the movement appropriately and learn from South Korea’s invaluable experience, the rural development in Vietnam will without a shadow of a doubt blossom. In addition, leaders with expertise in technical knowledge and good work attitude are important to the implementation of this model. Therefore, training in skills and thoughts must be carried out in a thorough manner so as to create competent leaders.
In her closing remarks, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ngo Thi Phuong Lan hoped that after the training session the attendees would be able to execute new rural establishment programs in Vietnam and apply the Saemaul spirit into the OCOP program and cultural tourist villages, positively contributing to the changing of the economic, social makeup of Vietnam in the future.
