Functions

- Doing research on Vietnam's culture and economy in Southeast Asian context as well as historical, economic, political, cultural, linguistic and diplomatic issues of Vietnam and other Southeast Asian countries. Editing books and providing materials for lecturers, students, researchers and scientists within and without Vietnam. Publishing scientific publications and disseminating scientific research results.

- Extending academic services and short-term training.

- Building bridge between researchers in Southeast Asia area.

- Under the regulations, CVSEAS could cooperate or collaborate with domestic or foreign organizations.

Missions

Doing research

- Planning long-term, mid-term or yearly research; organizing and executing plans that are approved by University of Social Sciences and Humanities - Vietnam National University or other research plans related to Vietnam and Southeast Asia countries that are entrusted by Vietnamese government.

- Undertaking theoretical and practical research, basically on economy development, culture, education in Vietnam and Southeast Asia countries.

Cooperating

- Collaborating with schools and research institutions under the Ministry, Department and local authorities on organizing scientific research and applying the results to practical aims of economic, cultural, scientific and educational development in Vietnam.

- Strengthening international cooperation relations about doing scientific research and training according to current regulations.

-Signing and executing scientific research contracts with research organizations or institutions, and researchers in and outside Vietnam according to Vietnam law and Vietnam National University - Ho Chi Minh City regulations.

Academic Services and Training

- Organizing training services in order to enhance cabilities and provide highly qualified human resources as University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University and the local required.

- Organizing and developing Vietnam and Southeast Asia related data.

- Exchanging scientific information with domestic and foreign companies under Vietnam law.

Therewith, CVSEAS undertakes different missions according to the distribution of Vietnam National University - Ho Chi Minh City.
