THE THIRD SYMPOSIUM ON GLOBAL SECURITY GOVERNANCE
, 24/12/2024 14:12On December 19, at the invitation of the Baize Institute for Strategic Studies of the Southwest University of Political Science and Law in Chongqing City, China, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phan Thi Hong Xuan - Director of the Center for Vietnam and Southeast Asian Studies and Chairwoman of the Vietnam - Southeast Asia Friendship Association in Ho Chi Minh City, along with Ms. Vo Phan My Tra and a student from the Faculty of Urban Studies, attended a symposium to discuss and explore opportunities for cooperation with universities and research institutes in China.

With the theme of “Global Security Governance,” the symposium established two main forums: “Global Security Initiative and Future Prospects” and “Global Security Initiative and Win-win Cooperation.” Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phan Thi Hong Xuan - Senior lecturer at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities - VNUHCM, along with nearly 100 experts and scholars from universities, research institutes, and practice departments of the University Alliance of the Silk Road, Fudan University, Minzu University of China, Zhejiang University, Sichuan International Research University, Nanjing University, and other institutions, attended the meeting. The opening ceremony of the symposium was chaired by Prof. Ma Fang – Chairman of the Baize Institute for Strategic Studies, Southwest University of Political Science and Law.
Prof. Hu Ergui - Vice President of the Southwest University of Political Science and Law, spoke at the opening of the symposium. Prof. Hu Ergui hopes that the symposium will adopt a problem-oriented approach, respect and maintain academic objectivity, accumulate academic synergy, promote the formation of an academic research community, and contribute new and greater strength to the practical development of global security governance.

In the forum, Prof. Ni Chunle, Vice Chairman of the Baize Institute for Strategic Studies of the Southwest University of Political Science and Law and five guest speakers made important contributions. Prof. Zhou Rong of Renmin University of China delivered a speech on the theme “The New Forms of Terrorism and the Protection of China's Overseas Interests.”. Prof. Li Xinyi of the Southwest University of Political Science and Law delivered a speech entitled “Mechanisms for the Role of Intelligence in National Security Decision-Making”. Dr. Rajasimman from Sichuan International Studies University gave a speech on the topic of “The Structure of Deterrence and Global Security”. Co-authored by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phan Thi Hong Xuan, Director of the Center for Vietnam and Southeast Asian Studies, along with Vo Lap Phuc, Vo Phan My Tra and Vo Minh Truc, the presentation was titled ""Vietnam’s Rising Era" in the international environment and its implications for Vietnam – China partnership."
To summarize the symposium, Prof. Ma Fang – Chairman of the Baize Institute for Strategic Studies at the Southwest University of Political Science and Law, pointed out that the symposium presented three outstanding features: firstly, the presentations delivered by participating experts and scholars demonstrated the depth of both theory and practice; secondly, the topics discussed at the symposium covered a variety of security areas; thirdly, the issues addressed by the symposium focused on the practical aspects of global security governance. It is hoped that experts and scholars will continue to explore new ideas, methods, and avenues for studying global security governance while providing valuable academic research findings for the practical development of global security governance.
Also on this occasion, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phan Thi Hong Xuan discussed with Prof. Ma Fang and colleagues from Beijing and Guangxi about future symposium on regional studies and non-traditional security that could be held in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Director of the Center for Vietnam and Southeast Asian Studies also highly appreciated the professional organization of the symposium, the application of AI in translation, and the arrangement of interpreters.
To express friendship and expand cultural exchange during the event, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phan Thi Hong Xuan and Prof. Ma Fang presented souvenirs to each other, demonstrating their solidarity and determination to realize cooperation agreements and programs.
