THE INAUGURATION CEREMONY OF THE FACULTY OF JAPANESE STUDIES
, 29/01/2016 13:01On August 27th, 2015, Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies participated in the Inauguration ceremony of the faculty of Japanese Studies at USSH. Assoc.Prof.Dr. Vo Van Sen, USSH’s President received the inauguration decision from The Director of Vietnam National University – HCMC.
The participants consisted of Mr. Satoshi Nakajima, Consul General of Japan, representatives of the faculties, offices and students at USSH. On behalf of Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asia Studies (CVSEAS), Prof. Dr. Thanh Phan, Vice Director of CVSEAS attended the ceremony.
In the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Tan Phat, Vice Director of Personnel and Organization Department gave the inauguration decision to Assoc.Prof.Dr. Vo Van Sen.

In 1994, the Department of Japanese Studies was established and belonged to Faculty of East Asian Studies. In December 2010, this Department was separated from the Faculty to become an independent Department of USSH.
According to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vo Van Sen, USSH – Ho Chi Minh City and USSH - Hanoi City are the first two Japanese training universities throughout Vietnam.
At the beginning, USSH- HCMC determined that they have trained not only Japanese Language Education, but also Japanese Studies in order to provide students with basic knowledge, methods and overall research skills in Japan depending on ways of approach systems as well as research methods of science.
Training, occupations and responds from employers within 20 years have shown us that approximately 1,500 former Japanese students have been equipped with abilities and skills to meet the great and dynamic requirements.

The development strategy of Faculty of Japanese Faculty – USSH firstly aims to meet practical demand in the more and more developing cooperative relation between Vietnam and Japan day by day, covering a wide range of fields such as economy, culture, society, politics, foreign, especially the unique and mysterious value of Japan both theoretically and practically.
The establishment of the faculty of Japanese Studies is the first step in cooperative relation between the countries in question in the future.
