On the morning of March 24, Prof. Tran Dinh Lam, Director of Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies, and Prof. Mikio Masaki from Hokkaido University, Japan, paid a visit to the Department of Business Administration, University of Economics HCMC.
The trip was part of the hands-on program to develop human resources for Japanese students in their trips to Vietnam and Singapore. This program was to help them learn more about Vietnam.
Prof. Mikio was greatly impressed by English lectures for Vietnamese students at the University of Economics. With his 10 years’ experience in working at JICA and Hokkaido University, he was fully aware of the vital role of human resource. JICA was the abbreviation for the Japan International Cooperation Agency, the only agency of the Japanese government that offered ODA to Vietnam through 3 means of disbursement: Technical Cooperation, Grant Aid and Loan Aid. The agency’s goal was to partly develop the economies and societies of developing countries, and reinforce Japan’s international relations. To reach this goal, JICA works to share Japanese knowledge and experience with the developing countries. Japan will attempt to assist Vietnam to achieve more outstanding improvements such as the metro rail system in HCMC that is to be used shortly.
After more than 4 times coming to Vietnam, Prof. Mikio was very impressed by the changes of the country. He expected that Vietnam would further develop, as well as the two countries’ relations would be better improved and get closer.
