WORKSHOP: FORMALISED PROCEDURES: INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY, CONTRACTUAL FRAMEWORK, INTERNAL APPROVAL PROCESS” AT THU DAU MOT UNIVERSITY
, 13/07/2018 14:07On June 14, 2018, “Formalised Procedures: Intellectual Property, Contractual Framework, Internal Approval Process” workshop was held by Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian studies (CVSEAS) – University of Social Sciences and Humanities (USSH) and Thu Dau Mot University (TDMU).
Following the success of the previous workshop, the training workshop on “Formalised Procedures: Intellectual Property, Contractual Framework, Internal Approval Process”, coordinated by Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Van - Deputy Head of Office of Educational Inspectorate & Legality (USSH), was took place on the next day, June 14, at TDMU.
This workshop was covered in ENHANCE – Strengthening National Research And Innovation Capacities In Vietnam – Southeast Asia project, under the direction of Alicante University in Spain; Glasgow Caledonian University in Scotland; Slovak University of Technology in Slovakia, and funded by Erasmus+, EU. The workshop focused on many matters concerning intellectual property, especially at education institutions.
The participants were Assoc. Prof. Hoang Trong Quyen – Vice President of TDMU, Dr. Tran Dinh Lam – Director of CVSEAS, together with many faculty members and officers from different universities.
The lecturer mentioned the author’s property rights, the ways to manage and exploit the intellectual property of an education institution, each party’s benefits in terms of exploitation and usage of intellectual property, settlement of violations regarding intellectual property and other issues.
At the workshop, the attendants discussed and raised concerns regarding intellectual property such as citation standards and regulations against plagiarism, as well as the administration of intellectual property in different areas including social sciences, natural science and technology.
Moreover, the guest speaker, Ms Hong Van also proposed several useful tools that are designed to enhance the proper exploitation and usage of intellectual property. She also suggested solutions to some problems concerning intellectual property faced by education institutions, libraries and research centers in Vietnam.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Van lectured and coordinated workshop on June 14 regarding issues related to intellectual property.
This workshop would potentially help broaden scientific knowledge and improve the research performance in TDMU, as well as in other education institutions in the country.
