52ND ANNIVERSARY OF INDEPENDENCE DAY OF THE STATE OF KUWAIT
, 26/02/2013 10:02Dr. Tran Dinh Lam just attended the 52nd Independence Day and 22nd Liberation Day of the State of Kuwait on February 25 in HCMC.
Present at the anniversary were the Consul General of the State of Kuwait in HCMC Omar Al- Qenaei, Vice Chairman of HCMC People’s Committee Le Manh Ha, Deputy Director of Vietnam National University – HCMC Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Duc Nghia, Vice President of HCM University of Social Sciences and Humanities Dr. Nguyen Thi Phuong Lan together with representatives of several businesses of Vietnam and Kuwait.

In his speech at the anniversary, Consul General of the State of Kuwait in HCMC Omar Al- Qenaei extended his thanks and appreciation to the authorities of Vietnam for their kind support to the Consulate General of the State of Kuwait during the last 5 years.
Kuwait and Vietnam share a number of factors in their foreign policy which is based on the principal of promoting a culture of peace, rejecting aggression, respecting sovereignty of States over their territories and the positive interaction with various issues of international interests.
The cooperation between the two countries dated back to 1976 when the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development started to provide funds for some infrastructure projects in Vietnam. This Fund has so far financed 35.5 million KW Dinars (around 121 million USD) and continues to play an important role in enhancing the mutual relations between the two countries.
Regarding Kuwait’s investment in Vietnam, one of the biggest projects is the Nghi Son Oil Refinery with total investment capital of 9 billion USD.
“The government of Kuwait has granted a number of scholarships to Vietnamese students to study in Kuwait. The Consulate General has also supported the establishment of the first discipline of Arabic studies at the HCMC University of Social Sciences and Humanities”, said the Consul General. He hopes that the cordial relations and cooperation between the two countries will be strengthened, especially in terms of education and human resource training.
