64th ANNIVERSARY OF THE REPUBLIC DAY OF INDIA
, 28/01/2013 16:01Dr. Tran Dinh Lam, Director of the Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies, just attended the 64th anniversary of the Republic Day of India (26/1/1950 - 26/1/2013) held by the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations, Vietnam - India Friendship Association in HCM City on January 24, 2013.
Present at the anniversary were representatives of HCM City’s leaders, Consul General of India in HCM City, representatives of the HCM City Foreign Affairs Office, Faculty of Oriental Studies, the Office of International Cooperation, the Indian community and enterprises in HCM City.
In his speech at the anniversary, President of Vietnam - India Friendship Association in HCM City Huynh Thanh Lap expressed his gratitude for precious assistance and long-term collaborative programs India offered to Vietnam before its reunification as well as during its industrialization and integration with other countries in the region like nowadays. He hopes that Vietnam and India will more strengthen bilateral ties of economics, trade, investment and trade turn-over.

Indian Consul General in HCM City Abhay Thakur delivered his speech at the anniversary.
Indian Consul General in HCM City Abhay Thakur expressed his sincere thanks for Vietnamese people’s friendship towards Indian people. Summit visits of the two countries’ leaders during the past years have consolidated Vietnam – India relations. In 2012, the Consulate General of India in HCM City coordinated with localities to organize 3 cultural events, 6 military ones and scholar exchange programs among universities.
The Consul General informed that there would be more professors of history and economics visiting and lecturing at universities in HCM City next March. An important event of cultural exchange is also going to take place this year, which is the release of the Hindu – Vietnamese, Vietnamese – Hindu dictionary compiled by Prof. Sadhna Saxena and his colleagues at the HCM City University of Social Sciences and Humanities. India is one the countries providing a lot of assistance in human resource training for the university.
