ATTENDING CEREMONY OF TAIWAN NATIONAL DAY
, 15/10/2012 16:10Dr. Trần Đình Lâm just attended a reception on the occasion of the 101 anniversary of Double Ten National Day held by the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in HCM City at Legend Hotel, HCM City on October 10.
Present at the ceremony were Prof. Võ Văn Sen, the president of the HCM City University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Đỗ Phúc, the Head of Department of Foreign Relations and the Office of International Relations & Project Development from the Vietnam National University and some other universities in HCM City.
The cooperation between Vietnam and Taiwan has been well maintained during the past 20 years and more and more develops in many fields. Taiwan has always been at the top of foreign investors regarding FDI in Vietnam, which is over 23.7 US dollars.
The Taipei Economic and Cultural Office has organized many cultural exchange programs between universities of Vietnam and Taiwan during the past years. Workshops and lectures with the attendance of professors from both sides play an important role in training human resource for Vietnam.

In his speech at the ceremony, the Chairman of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in HCM City, Mr. Jerry S.K. Yang, said that in addition to economic and trade relationship, Taiwan has eagerly promoted educational exchange with Vietnam. The Taipei Economic and Cultural Office also established “Taiwan Education Centers” in Ha Noi, Da Nang and HCM City in order to help Vietnamese students apply for advanced study in Taiwan. To September, 2012, there are 3,687 students studying in Taiwan, which forms the largest number of foreign students studying there.
Besides, Taiwan has provided Vietnam National University – HCM City with many valuable scholarships for overseas study.
Mr. Jerry S.K. Yang hopes that Vietnam government cherishes the friendship between the two nations as well as the Taiwanese enterprises’ contribution to Vietnam’s economic development so that the two nations can greet an era of “co-prosperity” based on mutual trust and cooperation.
