ATTENDING CONFERENCE IN KHON KHAEN, THAILAND
, 17/06/2013 14:06Dr. Tran Dinh Lam participated in the conference “From CLMVT to AEC: Current Situation and Future Prospects” held in Khon Kaen, Thailand on June 13, 2013.
The conference witnessed the presence of Tongurai Limpiti, Deputy Governor of the Bank of Thailand, and Somsak Suwansujarit, Mayor of Khon Kaen province. Representatives of more than 250 enterprises from different localities of the country and professors from Khon Kaen University also attended the conference.
Representatives from a number of countries such as Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Vietnam and Thailand had reports and discussions on the economic issues nowadays. Prof. Ikemoto Yukio from the University of Tokyo (Japan) had a presentation on ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) in a Wider Perspective. Dr. Phouphet Kyophilavong from the National University of Laos brought to the conference a report on Narrowing Development GAPs in ASEAN: Perspective from Lao PDR. Dr. Thun Vathana from the Loka Organization presented Current Situation and Future Prospects for Cambodia. Dr. Thein Swe talked about Myanmar Spring Today and Tomorrow.
Professors and scholars attended the conference in Khon Kaen, Thailand on June 13, 2013.
Dr. Tran Dinh Lam attended the conference with a report on Foreign Direct Investment in Vietnam. The participants all got involved in the presentation and discussion. Representatives of the countries all want to promote exchanges in socio-economic development, seeking for stability, mutual understanding and prosperity in the region. Also, they need to avoid conflicts and share experience in their developing process. Prof. Ikemoto hopes to place high values on humanism in the community. According to the professor, each country should have its own identity with typical features which can impress tourists and create a foundation for a good life and co-development.
Discussing at the conference, Somsak Suwansujarit wished to share human resource training with other countries in the region. He added that he had been to several places in Vietnam such as Da Nang, Hoi An, Quang Tri, etc and met lots of Vietnamese people coming to Khon Kaen. Many families enjoy their happy Thai – Vietnamese marriages. Senior Manager of the Northeastern Region Office of the Bank of Thailand (which hosted the conference), Pichit Patrawimolpon, also said that they had invited a speaker from the Ministry of Transport of Vietnam to a conference in Khon Kaen a few months before. Thailand hopes that its partners will cooperate with each other to propose plans to build up infrastructure and share information with enterprises, helping them to develop orientation towards investment.
