ATTENDING CONFERENCE ON INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS IN SOUTH AFRICA
, 21/01/2013 13:01Dr. Tran Dinh Lam just took part in a conference in the frame of the project “Promoting the international dimension of research in HEIs” organized by the University of Free State in coordination with the University of Alicante from 14-17 January, 2013.
Present at the conference were representatives from many universities such as University of Alicante (Spain), Chalmers University of Technology (Sweden), , Jagiellonian University (Poland), University of Campinas (Brazil), Saint-Petersburg Electrotechnical University (Russia), Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (India), Kunming University of Science and Technology (China), University of Free State (South Africa), Universidad Nacional del Litoral (Argentina), Universidad Tecnológica de Panamá (Panama) and University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City). This project acronym is HEIP-Link, which is financed by the European Commission.
In the opening speech, Prof. Juan Llopis – Vice President of the University of Alicante (Spain) highly evaluated the project on Intellectual Property Rights and practical issues in the development process. He emphasized the necessity of changing the way of thinking. It is very essential for each university to stimulate innovation and have a long-term and sustainable development plan with its own internal strength. Emphasis on developing education is always considered as the key to success in each country. In training students to meet the needs of reality, it is important to invest in research works, which will provide a strong foundation for future development.

The professor also appreciates the efforts of project participants, especially Mr. Robeto and Ms. Alexandra Mary, who have made great contribution to linking the countries such as Spain, Sweden, Brazil, Russia, India, China, Argentina, Vietnam and South Africa, etc. These countries have had connection to carry out cooperation programs, knowledge sharing and human resource training among universities. This is one of the 30 projects which is being run at the University of Alicante and financed by the European Commission.
Prof. Juan Llopis is very proud to have the trust and sponsorship of the European Commission for projects on Intellectual Property and human resource training. With the role as the one linking intellectuals, he hopes that the countries will make use of the assistance offered by the European Commission to advance human resource training and give prominence to grey matter sharing to contribute to economic development in the industrialization process.
