ATTENDING HIGH TEA WITH VICE PRESIDENT OF INDIA, MR. MOHAMMAD HAMID ANSARI
, 18/01/2013 10:01The Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies attended a high tea on the occasion of the Vice President of India – His Excellency Mohammad Hamid Ansari and his wife, together with delegates of Indian government paying a visit to Vietnam. The reception was held at Grand Ballroom, Sheraton Hotel, HCM City at 14h30 on January 17.
The Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies attended a high tea on the occasion of the Vice President of India – His Excellency Mohammad Hamid Ansari and his wife, together with delegates of Indian government paying a visit to Vietnam. The reception was held at Grand Ballroom, Sheraton Hotel, HCM City at 14h30 on January 17.
Among a lot of guests coming to the high tea were Prof. Dr. VoVan Sen – President of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and Le Phuoc Vu – Chairman of Hoa Sen Corporation and also the Chairman of Vietnam-India Business Forum. Additionally, there were many representatives from departments, organizations, universities and research institutions which have a close relationship with India and Indian community in HCM City.
In his opening speech at the high tea, the Consul General of India in HCM City Abhay Thakur expressed his happiness to welcome Vice President M.Hamid Ansari in a warm atmosphere of early 2013 in the city. According to his evaluation, the visit of Vice President of India is very successful, for it not only helps to achieve major goals of dialogue between the two countries’ governments, but it also proves the concern of Indian people to Vietnamese culture and history through their visits to Tran Quoc Pagoda (in Hanoi) and Cu Chi Tunnels (in HCM City).

Then, Vice President M. Hamid Ansari happily said that he and the Indian delegates had been warmly welcomed during his visit to Vietnam to review activities on the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries. In terms of strategic partnership, he evaluates that it has achieved great success, strengthening the friendly relationship since Vietnamese people still had to struggle for its independence. The Vice President hopes that the Indian business community in HCM City will keep making contributions to the development in many fields of both countries.

After the two above-mentioned brief speeches, the Vice President and his wife had friendly talks with the guests. The high tea took place in a cozy atmosphere and ended at 16h of the day.
