ATTENDING JICA'S CONFERENCE
, 18/03/2013 10:03Dr. Tran Dinh Lam participated in the conference “Japan’s Economy and Relations with Asia” organized by the HCM City University of Social Sciences and Humanities (USSH) in coordination with Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) at Continental Saigon Hotel on March 14, 2013.
Present at the conference were also Consul General of Japan in HCM City Hida Harumitsu; Prof. Harada Yutaka – Faculty of Political Science and Economics, Waseda University, Tokyo; Prof. Tran Van Tho, Faculty of Economics, Waseda University, Tokyo; Director of JICA Ishida Yukio, together with some university lecturers and students.
In his speech at the conference, Hida Harumitsu affirmed the partnerships between Vietnam and Japan, and hoped to strengthen ties between the two countries, especially after the official visit of Japanese Prime Minister Abe Shinzou to Vietnam in the last January. The year 2013 has been chosen as the year of Vietnam – Japan relations marking social, economic, and cultural role on the occasion of 40 years of establishing Japan-Vietnam diplomatic relations.

Coming to the conference, the two professors from Waseda University, had presentations on “Japan’s Economy in Future” and “Industrialization in Asia and Japan”. The presentations also got interest and discussions from researchers in the centers, universities and students at USSH.
At the conference, Vietnam learnt Japanese experience to train human resources and develop its economy, becoming an industrialized country in the future. In addition, Ishida Yukio also highlighted the re-establishment of largest ODA for Vietnam and he also hoped to develop relations in terms of academic exchanges, scientific research, sharing experience in tackling non-performing loans (NPLs) for Vietnam, and launching supporting projects for Vietnam in the future.
