ENHANCE PROJECT WORKSHOP AT HUE UNIVERSITY OF AGRICULTURE AND FORESTRY
, 06/03/2017 08:03The 2nd training workshop of the ENHANCE Project was held at the Hue University of Agriculture and Forestry from 22 to 24 February, 2017 with the participation of the University of Alicante, the main coordinator of the project and 6 member universities in Vietnam.
Attendees at the workshop included Prof.Dr. Pham Quang Minh – President of the Hanoi University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Dr. Vo Van Thang – President of the An Giang University, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Do Van Xe – Vice President of the Can Tho University, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Dang Van Minh – Vice President of the Thai Nguyen University, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Le Van An – President of the Hue University of Agriculture and Forestry, Dr. Tran Dinh Lam – Director of the Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies, HCM City University of Social Sciences and Humanities, alongside training experts, namely Mrs. Noelia López – Senior Project Manager, Office of International Project Management, and Mr. Iván Rodríguez, Service for Technology Transfer, University of Alicante (Spain).
The program consisted of two main events:
- The 1st national workshop “ENHANCE Brokerage Event”: Results of scientific research at universities in Vietnam were reported by the members. In addition, issues relating to cooperation in scientific studies among universities and enterprises were also brought to discussion by training specialists from the University of Alicante together with Vietnamese member universities, researchers and Hue-based businesses.
- The 2nd training workshop “Research Management”: The training professionals introduced the models of technology and knowledge transfer of the University of Alicante, followed by presentations of the Vietnam’s member universities on their activities of technology transfer. Strategies for approaching enterprises for research purposes and application also came up for discussion and solutions were put forward by the experts.
In this training workshop, the universities in Vietnam were introduced to the models of project management, approaches and cooperation with businesses in scientific research and application in the market, which are aimed at ensuring the connection between theory and reality. The training specialists from the University of Alicante, Mrs. Noelia López and Mr. Ivan Rodríguez, provided detailed models of project management with various practical examples, which are likely to be feasible in Vietnamese universities’ context. These professionals’ support has greatly contributed to changing the Vietnamese member universities’ viewpoint on research management and cooperation.
Dr. Vo Van Thang, President of the An Giang University, acknowledged the benefit of the ENHANCE Project, promising to apply the models of scientific research and collaboration with businesses from European higher education institutions in developing the university’s specialties such as wine, bánh cốm (green sticky rice) and rice paper made from floating rice with An Giang University’s trademark.
Assoc.Prof.Dr. Le Van An, President of the Hue University of Agriculture and Forestry, said that ENHANCE is a very practical project to the member universities as well as to other higher education institutions nationwide. He hopes that the project will spread over the whole country, enhancing the quality of scientific research, accelerating innovations and connecting businesses and students.
The 3rd training workshop is scheduled to take place at the An Giang University in May 2017. Dr. Vo Van Thang hopes that the University will be successful in developing its products and introduce them to the ENHANCE Project’s member universities, which will mark the school’s significant progress in increasing research capacity and applying its results in practice. The member universities will also put more emphasis on scientific studies and follow the models proposed by the University of Alicante.
