LIBRARY TRAINING WORKSHOP ON MANUSCRIPT PRESERVATION, COLLABORATING WITH NORTHERN ILLINOIS UNIVERSITY, US

The Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies (CVSEAS) collaborated with the Northern Illinois University’s library to hold a training workshop on manuscript preservation within 3 days (5 – 7 August) at the HCMC University of Social Sciences and Humanities (HCMC USSH).

Phan Hao and Danielle Spalenka, Northern Illinois University’s library (US) were in charge of lecturing at the workshop. The event attracted the participation of researchers from provincial departments of science, library staff of the HCMC USSH and experts from several centers of Cham studies.

The training workshop aims at providing scholars with research materials and contributing to the preservation of Vietnam’s cultural heritage. It offers fundamental knowledge of manuscript protection and helps experts on library and scholars raise their awareness of cultural preservation issues.

At the end of the seminar, Dr. Tran Dinh Lam on behaf of CVSEAs expressed his gratitude towards the support of  the Northern Illinois University’s library and looked forward to the cooperation of the two institutions to continue working together within the framework of a project on digitizing Cham documents in Vietnam in order to enhance cooperation between the two universities.
