MEETING MR. NORIO FUJISHIRO, A WELL-KNOWN JAPANESE ARTIST,
, 18/04/2013 10:04The Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies has just had a meeting with artist Norio Fujishiro, an influential figure in graphic design in Japan as well as in Asia .
Present at the meeting were also Dr. Truong Phi Duc – President of HCMC University of Fine Arts, Nguyen Van Minh (M.A) – Head of the Office of Scientific Research and International Cooperation, HCMC University of Social Sciences and Humanities.
Born in 1974 in Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan, artist Norio Fujishiro has won many big prizes of graphic design. Coming to Vietnam this time, he has brought with him lots of newly-painted works which were inspired by traditional Noh play with profound national and artistic character of Japan, hoping that they will be introduced to those interested in art.

Having organized numerous exhibitions on design in many countries worldwide, the artist is intending to open a big exhibition in Vietnam by himself. More specifically, he plans to bring 20 Japanese and their paintings to the Art Gallery of HCMC University of Fine Arts on the occasion of 100th anniversary of establishing this university at the end of this November. Moreover, artist Norio Fujishiro also plans to hold a workshop for lecturers and students to share his experience in the field of design.
Besides, the artist wishes to help Vietnam by giving scholarships to students majoring in graphic design and fine arts to open up more opportunities for them to get higher education. According to this artist, the market of graphic design in Vietnam has great potential for growth. Norio Fujishiro believes that Vietnam will achieve dramatic progress in years to come thanks to its young, versatile and dynamic human resources.
As part of a series of events to mark 40th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Vietnam and Japan, the programs launched by Norio Fujishiro have been greatly encouraged by the Consulate General of Japan in Vietnam, for they contribute to cement the deep friendship between the two countries.
President of HCMC University of Fine Arts, Dr. Truong Phi Duc, expressed his honor and gratitude for assistance from Japan for Vietnamese fine arts, hoping to establish a long-term cooperation in the future.
