MEETING PROF. MICHIKO YOSHII FROM THE CENTER FOR INTERNATIONAL EDUCATION AND RESEARCH (CIER)
, 19/03/2013 14:03The Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies (CVSEAS) has just held a meeting with Prof. Michiko YOSHII from the Center for International Education & Research – CIER. Present at the meeting were Dr. Tran Dinh Lam – Director of CVSEAS and Assoc. Prof. Thanh Phan – Deputy Director of CVSEAS.
Michiko YOSHII is a Japanese professor who has worked in Vietnam for years, and now he is working at CIER in Japan. Annually he organizes exchanges for international students in Japan with those in Vietnam to help them have knowledge of the diversity of Vietnamese culture. During the talk, Prof. Michiko discussed and shared experience of Japan in developing culture and education in Vietnam these days. When living in Vietnam, he spent time doing studies and getting to know about street children in HCMC, and then he set up a charity named “"Friends For Street Children Association” (FFSCA) for about 1,300 street children in Vietnam. Discussing with Prof. Michiko, Dr. Tran Dinh Lam hopes to have opportunities to cooperate and exchange experience and ideas with Japanese researchers, especially to promote the collaboration between CVSEAS and CIER.

At the end of the meeting, Dr. Tran Dinh Lam and Assoc. Prof. Thanh Phan presented Prof. Michiko with the two books published by CVSEAS: "The Economic, Cultural and Social Life of Bahnar People Sustainable Development" and "Coffee in Vietnam’s Highland – Historical, Anthropological and Economic Perspectives".
