MEETING PROFESSOR YASUHIRO YAMADA, THE DIRECTOR OF BANGKOK RESEARCH CENTER
, 09/01/2013 17:01The Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies has just met Prof. Yasuhiro Yamada, Director of Bangkok Research Center - JETRO, together with Prof. Sebastian Swann from Morgan State University and Mr. Nguyen Tri Dung, Director of Minh Tran Company.
The Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies has just met Prof. Yasuhiro Yamada, Director of Bangkok Research Center - JETRO, together with Prof. Sebastian Swann from Morgan State University and Mr. Nguyen Tri Dung, Director of Minh Tran Company.
Prof. Yamada worked in Hanoi for years; and now he is working at the Bangkok Research Center (BRC) IDE-JETRO, Thailand and The Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA). During the discussion, he shared precious experience of Thailand in economic development, culture and education to Vietnam nowadays.

In the discussion, Prof. Sebastian Swann and Mr. Nguyen Tri Dung hope to have opportunities to collaborate and exchange experience and ideas with Vietnamese researchers, especially enhancing the role of intellectuals to the country’s development process, respecting grey matter, training human resource and opening to other countries. In addition, the return of Myanmar to the Southeast Asian community is a positive sign of the cooperation among the countries in the region. Vietnam should also put emphasis on exploiting the advantages of domestic and overseas human resources to create a new motivation for the country’s development in the future.
At the end of the discussion, Dr. Tran Dinh Lam and Assoc. Prof. Thanh Phan presented these guests with 2 newly-published books by the Center: “The Economic, Cultural and Social Life of Bahnar People Sustainable Development” and “The inscriptions of Campa at the Museum of Cham Sculpture in Da Nang”.
