The Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies met up with Soichi Okuda, Director of Aplus Company, which belongs to the Shinsei Bank, Tokyo, Japan and Takatoshi Souda, Head of the Department of Planning and Investment of the company on January 13.
After dispatching experts to do studies on the Vietnamese market, the two businessmen directly came to Vietnam to pay a visit to the country and seek opportunities to do business.

Soichi Okuda thought that Vietnam is a dynamic and promising market. He hoped that the Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies will provide support in recommending candidates who have a good command of Japanese so that the company can train them in the financial sector. Aplus Company is now having more than 40 subsidiaries with over 2,000 employees in Japan.
He added that Japan’s usable land area accounts for about 30% only, and the rest mainly consists of rocky mountains. As a result, Japan puts an emphasis on developing high quality human resources, which play an essential role in the country’s growth. He hoped that Vietnam will also pay more attention to its human resources.
Discussing at the meeting, Takatoshi Souda said that, with his 24-year working experience in the U.S., he realized the great importance of training and law, which are the two requisite elements of success.
He is very happy for the close relationship between Vietnamese businesses and Japan counterparts. There are always non-stop flights to HCMC from Osaka and Narita everyday. He hopes that Aplus will soon set up its representative office in HCMC to promote the financial sector, helping citizens improve their life quality.
