MEETING WITH SURINDRA RAJABHAT UNIVERSITY, THAILAND

The Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies just met with postgraduates and masters from the Surindra Rajabhat University, Thailand at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities - Ho Chi Minh City on the afternoon of November 11.

The workshop witnessed the participation of Prof. Dr. Achara Phanurat from the Surindra Rajabhat University, Dr. Wasana Kaewla. Dr. Truong Thi Kim Chuyen – Vice President of the HCM City University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Dr. Tran Dinh Lam – Director of Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies, together with over 20 postgraduates and masters from Thailand.

Representatives from the Surindra Rajabhat University took turns presenting hot issues in Thailand nowadays such as sustainable development, equality for ethnic groups, enhancement of exported rice quality in Thailand, emphasis on manufacturing rice of high quality for the sake of farmers, etc.

The reports at the workshop had a practical and general view of urgent social issues in Thailand – “a country of golden pagodas”. One of the issues which is emphasized is the role of companies and multinational corporations to the social-economic development of Thailand these days.

This is a great chance for the two universities to have better understanding and knowledge exchange in cultural and academic studies so that both can develop the good inherent relationship.
