NATIONAL TRAINING 2: ECONOMY AND CLIMATE CHANGE

On the afternoon of May 30th, the 2nd National Training on “Economy and Climate Change: Theories and Practices” took place at University of Social Sciences and Humanities with many students, lecturers, and researchers in attendance.

 

Delivering the opening remark, Dr. Tran Dinh Lam introduced briefly the REACT project and some international practices on reducing climate change and the importance of researches in the field of climate change.

Host speaker of the training is MA Bui Thi Minh Ha – Lecturer of Faculty of Sociology (HCMUSSH). The training addressed the following topics:

  • Climate change and increase in global temperature
  • Impact of climate change on economy
  • Economic and financial tools to response to climate change
  • Circular economy

During the discussion session, participants exchanged their opinions on current climate change researches and sustainable development in accompany with reduction and adaptation to climate change. Prominently, Dr. Ngo Tung Duc, Head of Department of Postgraduate, Hue University of Agriculture and Forestry, shared his experience in climate change research under the socio-cultural perspective through which he hoped that participants, especially students, pay more attention to this matter as well as approach it from a different angle – “everyday angle” – since it is a subject that encompasses many areas.

The training is a place where students can express their perspectives and their concerns related to climate change and economic development, notably the model on community development in order to increase overall awareness of people on climate change, environment protection as well as sustainable economic development in close accompany with climate change adaptation at local level.
