PERFORMANCES TO MARK 25 YEARS OF VIETNAM – SOUTH KOREA RELATIONS

The Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies enjoyed the show “Korea Fantasy: Sound – Dance & Performance” performed by the Korean Gukak Chungnam Orchestra at the Ben Thanh Theater, HCMC on July 03.

The program was hosted by the Foreign Affairs Ministry of the Republic of Korea, aiming to mark the 25^thanniversary of the ASEAN-Korea dialogue relations and celebration of the Mekong – RoK exchange year.Performances combine sounds of various kinds of musical instruments and body movements of dancing art, from magnificent concerts to traditional dances with fast-and-slow tempos.

The Gukak Chungnam Orchestra from the Cheonan City was established in 1990 with the purpose of developing traditional music. The orchestra has done over 1,600 high quality performances and it is one of the leading art troupes in South Korea. The orchestra regularly organizes different kinds of performances such as national and worldwide tours, charity shows for the unlucky or at social welfare organizations.

Through this program, Vietnamese audience had a chance to get more understanding of culture of the country where kimchi comes from, which will contribute to promoting the cooperative friendship between the two countries.
