SEMINAR ON BUSINESS COMMUNICATION EFFECTIVENESS OF PROF. MICHAEL LAVIN FROM TRUMAN COLLEGE, CHICAGO, USA
, 14/01/2013 13:01The Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies (CVSEAS) – HCM City University of Social Sciences and Humanities (USSH) cooperated with the HCM City Union of Business Association (HUBA) and the Leadership and Management Science Research Institute (Leadman SRI) to organize a seminar “How to maintain customers and market share in the difficult period nowadays” on the morning of January 07, 2013 at Phu Nhuan Plaza with the participation of Prof. Michael Lavin from Truman College, Chicago, USA as the main speaker.
The Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies (CVSEAS) – HCM City University of Social Sciences and Humanities (USSH) cooperated with the HCM City Union of Business Association (HUBA) and the Leadership and Management Science Research Institute (Leadman SRI) to organize a seminar “How to maintain customers and market share in the difficult period nowadays” on the morning of January 07, 2013 at Phu Nhuan Plaza with the participation of Prof. Michael Lavin from Truman College, Chicago, USA as the main speaker.
Present at the seminar were also Lawyer Pham Ngoc Hung – Deputy Permanent Director of HUBA, Dr. Tran Dinh Lam – Director of CVSEAS, USSH, Nguyen Tan Binh (M.A) from Leadman SRI and more than 50 other participants including general directors, directors and experts from businesses which are members of HUBA.
In the opening speech, Mr. Pham Ngoc Hung had a brief assessment of businesses in 2012 – a year with difficulties due to economic instability since 2008. The lawyer also made some predictions about Vietnamese businesses in 2013 as well as shared information on domestic policies and international integration to help enterprises in their business and investment planning.

Coming to the main part of the seminar, Prof. Michael Lavin emphasized the importance of communication skills in business and conveyed principles of communication, the art to become a master communicator and build up good relationship with customers.
Another interesting thing during the seminar is that Prof. Michael inserted a lot of graphic illustrations and practical exercises into his presentation, in which some audiences were invited to participate with him and others. Useful lessons will be drawn from these exercises and applied into businesses to help them improve communication skills and business effectiveness.
