, 13/05/2010 16:05

On the morning of May 9th, 2010, Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies participated in the 16th Oratory Contest on Japanese in Ho Chi Minh city in 2010. It was supported by the General Consulate of Japan in HCMC and The Japan Foundation.

The contest was financed by many sponsors, including: Business Association of Japan in HCM City, All Nippon Airways (ANA), the FPT Software Joint Stock Company, the Club of Alumni of Japan in HCMC (JUACH), K-Café Restaurant and Best Noodles Restaurant.

According to the preliminary summary, in Vietnam now there are over 40,000 students attending the Japanese contest, in which there are about 6300 in Hanoi and about 8300 in Ho Chi Minh City. The competition brings together 12 talented Japanese students who have passed the preliminary competitions: 1. Tran Thanh Truc 2. Nguyen Quang Huy 3. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Thuy 4. Nguyen Thanh Hai 5. Tran Chieu Chieu 6. Le Anh Thy 7. Thien Thanh Huynh 8. Thai Hien Ha 9. Huynh Kim Anh 10. Mai Thi Cam Nhung 11. Nguyen Thi Diem Chau 12. Nguyen Thi Thu Huong

The contestant Nguyen Thi Diem Chau with the topic “Challenge is the chance to identify ourselves”, who won the first prize, was awarded a travel to Japan by All Nippon Airways (ANA.)

The General Consul of Japan, Ikuo Mizuki, highly evaluated the candidates’ ability of the Japanese Language. In comparison to last year’s, this contest is better in quality: The contestants have more accurate pronunciation and the themes of presentations are very abundant and diverse. This justifies that the ability of Vietnamese people to learn Japanese is very good. According to the representative of JBAH, Mr Nishida Masahirô, the movement of learning Japanese has made great contribution in human resources to the Japanese companies in HCM city. Through this movement, the human resources of the country will develop strongly thanks to the direct access to scientific and cultural background of Japan.
