, 19/10/2011 17:10On December 1st, 2009, Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies and The Japan Foundation in Vietnam held a lecture by Prof. MOMOKI Shiro, Osaka General University, Japan. A lot of domestic and foreign scholars, researchers and students participated in the lecture.
With the topic "What is necessary today to become a strategic partner and to understand each other between Japan and Vietnam: From the viewpoint of a Japanese historian" Prof. MOMOKI Shiro attracted the attention of the audience. In his opinion, the countries in the world are ranked in three: developed, mid-forward and developing. Vietnam is ranked developing and on the way to mid-forward.
According to the Professor, in the past the relationship between Japan and other countries did not develop well. Japan should regulate many issues in the partnership with Southeast Asian countries so that their cooperation may be enlarged and developed fast. Vietnam should identified itself and the region. In the field of economy, Vietnam should not immitate the Western hastily. In education, the students in high school should be taught some Han characters so that they can learn some borrowed words from Chinese. Vietnam’s potentiality is great, so the appropriate exploitation should be considered so that it will be able to ranked mid-forward.
That a lot of audience attending the lecture was surprised at his ability to speak Vietnamese fluently and put a lot of questions which were answered completely by Professor justifies that the lecture was successful.
