On December 7th, 2020, the executive committee of TOURIST project and TOURIST’s members had a workshop with Dr. Quang Dai Tuyen - Lecturer of Faculty of Tourism - Van Lang University about the development of eco-cultural tourism of lotus village in Ninh Thuan province. The workshop had the participation of Dr. Tran Dinh Lam - Director of CVSEAS and Ms. Le Nhat Tan - Joie Garden Vietnam Co. Ltd. The workshop was within the framework of work package No.4 implementing the Center for Development of Sustainable Tourism.

TOURIST MEMBERS EXPERIENCED LOCAL CULTURE IN THE WORKSHOP: CONSTRUCTING THE TRADITIONAL RURAL VALUES FOR VIETNAM LOTUS ECO VILLAGE.TOURIST MEMBERS EXPERIENCED LOCAL CULTURE IN THE WORKSHOP: CONSTRUCTING THE TRADITIONAL RURAL VALUES FOR VIETNAM LOTUS ECO VILLAGE. On December 3rd & 4th, 2020, within the framework of work package No.4 of TOURIST project, funded by the EU’s Erasmus+, six students from the Faculty of Tourism, USSH had a field trip to Phuc Khang Corporation’s green projects, which were Vietnam Lotus Eco Village Urban Area (Long An Province), Diamond Lotus Riverside Project (District 8, HCMC) and Green Gallery (District 1, HCMC). The trip was a part of the workshop: “Constructing traditional rural values for Vietnam Lotus Eco Village”, organized by Phuc Khang Corporation, Thu Dau Mot University (TDMU), and Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies (CVSEAS) - USSH.

HA VAN SIEU ON TOURISM POST COVID-19 PANDEMIC “Tourism after Covid-19 is geared toward community-based tourism”, said Dr Ha Van Sieu, Vice Chairman of Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT). Discussing the TOURIST project* with Dr Tran Dinh Lam, he strongly emphasized the idea of developing community-based tourism. The meeting took place on October 10th, 2020 at the headquarters of VNAT in Ha Noi.  
DISCOVERING POTENTIAL FOR SUSTAINABLE WATERWAY TOURISM IN HO CHI MINH CITYDISCOVERING POTENTIAL FOR SUSTAINABLE WATERWAY TOURISM IN HO CHI MINH CITY On October 17th, 2020, the Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies (CVSEAS) conducted fieldwork on the Nhieu Loc Canal, Ho Chi Minh City as part of Work Package 4 of project TOURIST*. The occasion also doubled as an opportunity for consultation between experts on the development of sustainable waterway tourism on the Nhieu Loc Canal.

On October 16th, 2020 in USSH, as a part of TOURIST’s training course, Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies hosted a training workshop about the topic: “Development of sustainable homestay in Ho Chi Minh City” with the participation of representatives of two local homestay businesses in HCMC.

On 9th October 2020, in the framework of work package No.4 of TOURIST project, CVSEAS’s research team, led by Dr. Tran Dinh Lam, had a meeting with Ms. Luu Thi Thanh Mau - CEO of Phuc Khang Corporation in order to explore opportunities in green tourism development in the new urban area in HCMC. The meeting also had the participation of Ms. Le Thi Hong Na,  officer and specialist of the Office of Green Building Research and Development, Phuc Khang Corporation.

On September 8th, 2020, a handover and bringing into use parcel of books for the “Competence Center for the Development of Sustainable Tourism and Innovative Financial Management Strategies to Increase the Positive Impact of Local Tourism in Thailand and Vietnam” project (TOURIST*) took place in the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (USSH), Ho Chi Minh National University.

In the spirit of spreading project TOURIST’s ideas on eco-tourism, on August 29th, CVSEAS staff led by Professor Chung Hoang Chuong and Doctor Tran Dinh Lam, joined by many experts in the field tourism, visited Con Chim - Chau Thanh, Tra Vinh to exchange knowledge on sustainable development with the locals.

On July 27th, 2020, as a part of the TOURIST project, CVSEAS’s research team paid a visit to Dr. Tran Dinh Hang – Director of Hue Sub-Institute, Vietnam National Institute of Culture and Arts Studies, in order to study community based tourism in central Vietnam. Dr. Le Anh Tuan – Vice Director of the Sub-Institute and other staff also joined the meeting.

BRINGING TOURIST TO QUANG NAM AND QUANG NGAIBRINGING TOURIST TO QUANG NAM AND QUANG NGAI

From July 23rd to July 25th, as part of project TOURIST’s promotions,  CVSEAS’s research group, consisting of Dr. Tran Dinh Lam, Mr. Pham Thanh Thoi, and Mr. Nguyen Hong Truc, went on a field trip to three tourist attractions across the South Central Coast of Vietnam. Their destinations were Dong Gia Organic Farming Group (Cam Thanh), Cu Lao Cham Marine Park (Quang Nam), and Go Co - Sa Huynh Village (Quang Ngai).
