WORKSHOP: ECO-CULTURAL TOURISM DEVELOPMENT IN NINH THUAN LOTUS VILLAGE
, 18/12/2020 14:12On December 7th, 2020, the executive committee of TOURIST project and TOURIST’s members had a workshop with Dr. Quang Dai Tuyen - Lecturer of Faculty of Tourism - Van Lang University about the development of eco-cultural tourism of lotus village in Ninh Thuan province. The workshop had the participation of Dr. Tran Dinh Lam - Director of CVSEAS and Ms. Le Nhat Tan - Joie Garden Vietnam Co. Ltd. The workshop was within the framework of work package No.4 implementing the Center for Development of Sustainable Tourism.
In the opening of the workshop, Dr. Quang Dai Tuyen introduced the tourism model that he himself founded and operated, Caraih Lotus Village. This tourist destination focused on exploiting the beauty of the lotus fields, the flower is quite easy to grow in the extreme tropical climate conditions in Central Vietnam. Besides, he noted that experiencing Cham culture was a highlight in Caraih Lotus Village. Those activities were meticulously designed, integrating Cham culture features such as: taking photos with Cham traditional clothes, savoring Cham signature cuisine in Ninh Thuan, etc. In fact, experience tourism and sustainable tourism were the main types of tourism in this tourist attraction, aiming to create socio-economic benefits for the residential community, promote the traditional cultural values of the Cham in Ninh Thuan, and spread the spirit of responsible tourism.

In the discussion with project members, Dr. Quang Dai Tuyen shared about the value chains that had been created in the organization and operation process of Caraih Lotus Village. In particular, the outstanding sustainable and the most practical values that Caraih Lotus Village had gained were improving the income of the local community, promoting the consumption of local agricultural products, creating jobs for the elderly, and regenerating natural ecosystems. Dr. Tuyen believed that, in the future, his successful startup model would attract more young local human resources to contribute to and improve the socio-economic life of the residential community in Ninh Thuan province.
