Project TOURIST or “Competence centers for the development of sustainable tourism and innovative financial management strategies to increase the positive impact of local tourism in Thailand and Vietnam” is funded by the Erasmus+ Foundation of the European Union and is under the coordination of FH JOANNEUM Gesellschaft mbH (Austria). As a member, CVSEAS has great insight into the inner working of the Project. Therefore, attending the project dissemination session at Nha Trang University, Dr. Tran Dinh Lam had insightful knowledge to share with the students regarding many aspects of TOURIST, such as its visions, objectives, activities, and final results after 05 years of implementation.

As sustainable tourism becomes the standard, more and more tour operators and tourist destinations, such as Sa Huynh Travel Company and Go Co Heritage Village Park, are moving forwards with their goals of sustainable development and preservation of the local traditional cultural values. With that in mind, the exchange program helped to raise the students’ awareness of the current trends in the tourism sector in general and the development of sustainable tourism in particular.

The session was an important opportunity to inform the students of the Faculty of Tourism, Nha Trang University, of the changing future of tourism in Vietnam. In addition, the exchange served as an inspirer of start-up ideas with potential for new and innovative approaches to developing sustainable tourism in Vietnam.
