SOLUTIONS FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF SUSTAINABLE TOURISM IN VIETNAM AND THAILAND
, 18/04/2021 22:04Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies (CVSEAS) recently organized a seminar in Thu Dau Mot University to report the implementation process of the project “Competence centres for the development of sustainable tourism and innovative financial management strategies to increase the positive impact of local tourism in Thailand and Vietnam” (TOURIST), which is funded by the Erasmus+, European Commission”

The seminar was an opportunity to broaden the network, promote research and teaching activities in Vietnam's higher education system, and facilitate the collaboration between Vietnam and European universities.
Sustainable tourism development needs a determined philosophy and orientation. Those ideas are aimed at community-serving. Thus, the tourism enterprise and affiliated organizations need to pay attention to the organization and promotion of this type of tourism. Besides, the process of experiencing this type of tourism must come from tourists who are fond of community-based tourism and enjoy experiencing environmentally friendly tourism products.

As USSH’s representative, the Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies was a coordinator of the TOURIST project.The project has the participation of 8 foreign partner universities and 3 national counterparts: University of Social of Sciences and Humanities Hanoi; University of Social Sciences and Humanities Ho Chi Minh City; Hue University; FH JOANNEUM Gesellschaft mbH; University of Alicante; Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences; Kasetsart University; Burapha University; Payap University; Prince of Songkla University and the Thailand Community Based Tourism Institute.
