TOURIST 2ND EXPERT TRAINING AT UNIVERSITY OF SOCIAL SCIENCES AND HUMANITIES, HO CHI MINH CITY

From December 11 to 14, the 2nd TOURIST expert training was held at University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Ho Chi Minh City (HCMUSSH). This training is part of the TOURIST project.

 

The training welcomed participants from University of FH Joanneum (Austria), University of Applied Science Haaga-Helia (Finland), and University of Alicante (Spain) together with 30 members of universities from Thailand and Vietnam.

Delivering the opening remark, Dr. Pham Tan Ha – Vice president of HCMUSSH expressed gratitude to trainers from EU and colleagues from Thailand for their experiences and knowledge to be shared during the training. He stated “Tourism exploitation and development of locality is currently supported by the university, specifically the development of particular product, tourism planning and human resource training.”

Unlike the 1st training, the 2nd training puts greater emphasis on providing tools for analysis, planning, and management of tourism destinations in the orientation of sustainability on different levels; improving linkage between stakeholders in developing sustainable tourism in the context of diverse cultures; evaluating sustainable factors that attributes to the impact of tourism industry.

Besides, participants also went on a field trip to the historical site Cu Chi Tunnel, one of the tourism sites that follow the sustainable model at Ho Chi Minh City. Afterwards, participants completed a reflection report on their experience during their visit at Cu Chi and Ho Chi Minh City to present in the final day of the training.

Before the training took place, trainers from EU had a brief meeting with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ngo Thi Phuong Lan – President of HCMUSSH to discuss on upcoming activities within the TOURIST project framework.
