VISITING AJINOMOTO CO., LTD. TO CONDUCT STUDIES ON TRADEMARK AND COPYRIGHT WITH PROF. KOJI DOMON

, 22/10/2013 11:10

Prof. Koji Domon from the Waseda University (Japan), together with Dr. Tran Dinh Lam, worked with representatives of Ajinomoto Vietnam Co., Ltd. to have discussions about copyright and issues related to counterfeit trademarks on October 19, 2013.

The meeting also saw the presence of Motohashi Hiroharu, CEO of Ajinomoto Vietnam Co., Ltd. and Nguyen Van Trung, Head of the Division of External Relations of the company. The participants’ concerns are what should be done to protect Vietnamese consumers as well as the role of the state in shielding enterprises and business environment in Vietnam.

According to Motohashi Hiroharu, the counterfeits of Ajinomoto products have reached professional level. Their packing is printed with modern equipment made in China, which makes the scale of these counterfeits bigger and bigger. There should be preventative measures from all level of authorities, he added.

“The investment in human resources and facilities to stop fakes should be paid more attention to in order to show the authorities’ concern over the business environment in Vietnam. Additionally, state officials should learn about copyright issues to be able to aware of the importance and strictness of law in protecting enterprises and community interests”, emphasized the CEO.

Although no cases in which counterfeits of Ajinomoto products cause harmful effects to consumers’ health have been detected so far, that will result in serious consequences in the long run if we do not have tight control over the matter. To maximize profit, it is very likely that counterfeiters will add toxic substances into their products.

Ajinomoto Vietnam Co, Ltd. has been collaborating with a number of authorities to hold periodical seminars and exhibitions to help consumers distinguish genuine products from fakes.
