VISITING TRI DUNG BUSINESS SCHOOL
, 18/07/2013 14:07Dr. Tran Dinh Lam, Director of the Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies, together with Assoc.Prof.Dr. Vo Van Sen, President of HCMC University of Social Sciences and Humanities (HCMC USSH), and Phan Thanh Binh (M.A.), Vice President of HCMC USSH, paid a visit to the vocational school of Vietnamese expatriate businessman Nguyen Tri Dung on the afternoon of July 17, 2013.
Dung is the one founding the Tri Dung Business School as the first private business school in Vietnam in October, 1989. His school emphasizes on equipping learners with practical expertise so that they can meet their job’s requirements right after their graduation. Following the Japanese model based on valuable domestic experience and new trends in the world to link universities with businesses, his school has achieved considerable success during the past years.

With over 40 years of studying and working in Japan, Dung is one of the first Vietnamese expatriates returning to Vietnam after 1975 and modestly devoted himself to his father land. He often organizes workshops with the presence of the Japanese Consul General and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) for Vietnamese businesses to have opportunities to exchange with Japanese enterprises and carry out technology transfer. Besides, he has also led a number of marketing groups from HCMC and Dong Nai province to Japan to enhance the mutual understanding between the two business environments, which will form a basis for attracting investment in Vietnam.
The training model of Tri Dung Business School is highly evaluated since it offers practical subjects such as economics, business management, marketing research, foreign languages (English and Japanese), etc. According to Assoc.Prof.Dr. Vo Van Sen, this proves to be an effective way of training human resources, for it can solve the problems of labor in society, helping to create employment for the youth. Through the visit, Dung hopes to have collaboration with universities in providing students with vocational training and helping universities obtain international sponsorships. HCMC USSH is one of the universities that he is seeking cooperation with in the near future.
