, 04/07/2014 07:07

After his trip to Eastern Europe to introduce about the Josai International University (JIU), Prof. Masumi Ishida, the University’s Vice President, paid a visit to the Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies on June 28 in order to promote educational cooperation with Vietnam in the future.

Prof. Masumi Ishida introduced about advantages of the JIU, where he has been working for over 20 years. The university offers many majors with high quality training, in which tourism major is ranked among the top in Japan thanks to the school’s facilities. From a small university with only 360 students and 3 departments, JIU now has more than 5,000 students from many different countries with 8 undergraduate departments and 6 graduate programs.

The professor proudly said that the first president of the University was a government official who held the position as the Minister of Finance for 5 times and as the Minister of Industry and Commerce for once. The current president hopes to have more cooperation in human resource training.

Prof. Masumi Ishida wished to establish a long-term collaboration between the JIU with the HCMC University of Social Sciences and Humanities as well as with other universities in Vietnam. He hoped that Vietnamese students after their high school graduation or undergraduates and graduates who want to study abroad in Japan will be able to study at his university. Since the university is located in an area with a number of tourist attractions and hotels surrounding, students can have assistance in finding jobs in those resorts while studying there.

The JIU now consists of 4 campuses: Chiba Togane, Tokyo Kioicho, Awa and Makuhari. The most special campus is Awa (for the Department of Tourism) in Kamogawa, which is surrounded by seas and green spaces, and 100% of students at this faculty can have good jobs after their graduation.
