ATTENDING CONFERENCE IN BRUSSELS, BELGIUM
, 06/02/2018 13:02From 29 to 30 January 2018, Dr. Tran Dinh Lam attended a workshop on issues of "Capacity Building for Higher Education" projects in Brussels, Belgium organized by European Union (EU).
Over 400 scholars from universities around the world gathered to have discussions with their partners from European universities which have been implementing EU-funded projects.

Mr. Ralf Rahders, Head of Unit for International Capacity Building from the EU's Education Executive Agency shared experience administrating and running EU-funded programs. He also hoped that countries would make more investments in education and training – the only way to develop human resources which leads to socio-economic advancement.
“The quality of education will make a change to your country, bring success to higher education institutions, and improve teaching quality”.
“It is necessary to have cooperation among people in your country, and then with those involved in the project. EU is always willing to play a role as a bridge for you so we can enhance training quality, promote exchanges, and create more job opportunities for our students”.
The conference called for the sharing of knowledge and spread the EU’s philosophy of development, i.e. building trust, bringing peace, and cooperating in economic development to attain mutual prosperity through cooperation in education and training.
Mrs. Moreau Patricia, an EU representative of the project entitled “Strengthening the Vietnamese Higher Education System to improve graduates’ employability and entrepreneurship skills” (V2WORK), shared her opinions on facilities provided for Vietnamese partners. It is necessary for the involved parties to have effective cooperation among higher education institutions.
Mrs. Claudia Linditsch, an EU representative of the project “Competence centres for the development of sustainable tourism and innovative financial management strategies to increase the positive impact of local tourism in Thailand and Vietnam” (TOURIST), talked about the connections between European universities and their Southeast Asian counterparts in order to train qualified workforce for tourism. European universities’ practical experience in developing its tourism can be regarded as a useful lesson for universities in Vietnam and Thailand.
