CVSEAS MEETS EXOTISSIMO IN SEPT 2017
, 28/09/2017 16:09On September 23, 2017, Dr. Tran Dinh Lam, Director of the Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies, met with the Exotissimo Group from the US.
On their trip to the Southeast Asian countries this time, the Exotissimo Group visited Cambodia, Mekong Delta provinces, and Ho Chi Minh City.
Talking about Vietnam’s economy in the Doi Moi, Dr. Tran Dinh Lam said that although the country has made considerable economic progress during this period, it still has to face different obstacles to the process of developing human resources in the industrial age.
The Exotissimo Group highly values that growth of Ho Chi Minh City and the Mekong Delta provinces. They think, however, that the Vietnamese state needs to implement policies that benefit its residents, especially farmers, in economic development, helping to reduce their disadvantage and maximize profits when they trade with businesses. Given the context that people working in the farming industry are too reliant on natural environments while Vietnam is one of the countries with the highest proportion of Internet users in the region, the Exotissimo Group suggests Vietnam should apply scientific and technological advancements to farming practices, which will help farmers gain more benefits. Moreover, private enterprises in Vietnam should also be supported by the state which can provide a foundation and momentum for their integration with the international market.
The Group appreciates the good relations between Vietnam and the US during the past years, most noticeably, the process of human resources development with nearly 30,000 Vietnamese students pursuing their education in the US, which is a promising signal of the Vietnam’s labor force in the future.
