On the side of VCCI, there was Mr. Vo Tan Thanh – Vice President of Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Mr. Tran Ngoc Liem – General Director of Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Ho Chi Minh City Branch.
The forum featured guest speeches from Mr. Nguyen Van Phung – Former Director of Department of Large Taxpayers, General Department of Taxation; Mr. Ngo Xuan Chinh – Director of Center for Research and Transfer of Agricultural Technology; Mr. Bui Van My – Vice General Director of Saigon Agriculture Incorporation; Dr. Tu Minh Thien – General Director of Pacific Service Development Joint Stock Company…
In his opening remarks, Mr. Vo Tan Thanh revealed that 80% of Vietnam's agricultural exports are raw products with minimal processing. The revelation underscores the fact that Vietnam is not maximizing the value of its agricultural resources. To address this, Vietnam needs to focus on increasing the processing of agricultural raw materials into high-quality finished products. Establishing robust brand identities through effective marketing and advertising strategies is also crucial. A strong brand name can command higher prices on the international market and attract a larger customer base.
During the discussion panel, it was noted that current challenges to the agricultural sector were product output and the quality of the agricultural materials employed in the production process. In response to growing demand for healthier, safer, and more sustainable food, a focus has been placed on establishing a supply chain that prioritizes the production and distribution of organic, natural, and artificial additive-free agricultural products. This should push supply chains to become more sustainable and environmentally friendly, which means implementing changes to how agricultural products are processed, transported, and marketed.
