On 9th October 2020, in the framework of work package No.4 of TOURIST project, CVSEAS’s research team, led by Dr. Tran Dinh Lam, had a meeting with Ms. Luu Thi Thanh Mau - CEO of Phuc Khang Corporation in order to explore opportunities in green tourism development in the new urban area in HCMC. The meeting also had the participation of Ms. Le Thi Hong Na, officer and specialist of the Office of Green Building Research and Development, Phuc Khang Corporation.

On September 8th, 2020, a handover and bringing into use parcel of books for the “Competence Center for the Development of Sustainable Tourism and Innovative Financial Management Strategies to Increase the Positive Impact of Local Tourism in Thailand and Vietnam” project (TOURIST*) took place in the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (USSH), Ho Chi Minh National University.
In the spirit of spreading project TOURIST’s ideas on eco-tourism, on August 29th, CVSEAS staff led by Professor Chung Hoang Chuong and Doctor Tran Dinh Lam, joined by many experts in the field tourism, visited Con Chim - Chau Thanh, Tra Vinh to exchange knowledge on sustainable development with the locals.

On July 27th, 2020, as a part of the TOURIST project, CVSEAS’s research team paid a visit to Dr. Tran Dinh Hang – Director of Hue Sub-Institute, Vietnam National Institute of Culture and Arts Studies, in order to study community based tourism in central Vietnam. Dr. Le Anh Tuan – Vice Director of the Sub-Institute and other staff also joined the meeting.
From July 23rd to July 25th, as part of project TOURIST’s promotions, CVSEAS’s research group, consisting of Dr. Tran Dinh Lam, Mr. Pham Thanh Thoi, and Mr. Nguyen Hong Truc, went on a field trip to three tourist attractions across the South Central Coast of Vietnam. Their destinations were Dong Gia Organic Farming Group (Cam Thanh), Cu Lao Cham Marine Park (Quang Nam), and Go Co - Sa Huynh Village (Quang Ngai).

On July 20th and 21st, 2020, Ho Chi Minh City University of Social Sciences and Humanities – a member of TOURIST project, attended an international webinar on Sustainable tourism development in ASEAN. The second international seminar taking place in Bangkok (Thailand) is one of activities of project TOURIST* funded by European Union through Erasmus+ Foundation.

As part of project TOURIST’s training course, on July 9th, Professor Chung Hoang Chuong - former lecturer at Department of Asian American Studies, City College of San Francisco- gives an insightful speech on the topic of “Sustainable Tourism in South Central Coast of Vietnam.”
On July 13th, the seminar “Organizing Online Courses and Job Fairs for Vietnamese Higher Education Institutions,” took place on HCMUSSH’s District 1 campus.

On June 10th, 2020, an online discussion among ten hand-picked students from Ho Chi Minh University of Social Sciences and Humanities (HCMUSSH) and Prince of Songkla University (PSU) was held via Google Meet. The discussion was chaired by Dr. Chatchawan – Representative of PSU and Dr. Tran Dinh Lam – Director of Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies as part of project TOURIST*.
