VISIT TO THE CONSULATE GENERAL OF THE REPUBLIC OF INDONESIA IN HO CHI MINH CITY AND WORKING SESSION WITH REPRESENTATIVES OF PRESIDENT UNIVERSITY – INDONESIA
, 09/04/2024 12:04The Center for Vietnam and Southeast Asian Studies attended a meeting on the afternoon of June 5, 2024, to discuss the potential and prospects of cooperation with the Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia and representatives of President University. The meeting took place at the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in Ho Chi Minh City.
To mark the end of the holy month of Ramadan and the Muslim community's Eid al-Fitr celebration, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Phan Thi Hong Xuan, Director of the Center for Vietnam and Southeast Asian Studies, and President of the Vietnam - Southeast Asia Friendship Association in Ho Chi Minh City, extended congratulations to Mr. Agustaviano Sofjan, the Consul General, his family, the Consulate General staff, and the Indonesian Muslim community. The delegation was also joined by Mr. Ibnu Hadi, former Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia and honorary advisor representing President University in Vietnam, as well as cultural and educational consul.
During the meeting, after exchanging Eid al-Fitr greetings, the parties discussed the purpose, vision, mission, and proposed new directions for cooperation. The Consul General highly appreciated the activities of the Vietnam-Southeast Asia Research Center in promoting and expanding the teaching of Bahasa Indonesia, thereby contributing to the development of high-quality human resources for businesses. The Consul General expressed the hope that the Indonesian Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City and the Center would have more opportunities for cooperation through seminars, discussions, and cultural promotion programs.
The Center Director expressed gratitude to the Indonesian Consulate General for their support, particularly in coordinating the organization of an essay contest on the ASEAN community in 2023, as well as exploring potential activities for collaboration and promoting sustainable development. As a result, the two sides agreed to coordinate the organization of seminars and discussions, strengthen international research and publishing, offer language training courses, facilitate exchange programs and student exchanges, and organize language classes combined with cultural experiences in Indonesia. These agreements will contribute to enhancing the capacity and cooperative relationship between the two institutions.
The meeting has opened up prospects for cooperation between the Center for Vietnam and Southeast Asian Studies, the Indonesian Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City, and President University. The three parties have agreed to promote training activities, enhance human resource training, and strengthen cooperative relationships in order to foster the development of the institutions and the overall progress of the region.
