On 26.03.2010, Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies held a seminar to introduce Kimono and Japanese calligraphy. The presentation was run by Professor Kiyoshi Matsuda and 5 Japanese specialists. Nearly 100 students from different universities in Ho Chi Minh city (University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Open University, University of Foreign Languages and Informatics, University of Hong Bang, Van Hien ...) participated in a vigorous way.
Japan is said to mention the beauty of traditional culture. There calligraphy and kimono have reached their peak and are well known. With the hope of introducing Japanese cultural beauties to affluent students in Vietnam, Prof. Kiyoshi Matsuda and heart-felt Japanese found the way to Vietnam to make presentations about Japanese calligraphy and kimono. Students who attended had the opportunity to learn about Japanese culture through calligraphy and the beauty of Japanese dress. In addition, they could enjoy watching performances of calligraphy, testing calligraphy writing test and trying on Kimono. This would be very useful experiences.
With the number of students learning Japanese increasing more and more, learning Japanese culture is essential. In the future, CVSEAS will want much more organized cultural exchange sessions like this.
