SEMINAR ON DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION IN TEACHING AND LEARNING ACTIVITIES - CAN THO UNIVERSITY
, 24/09/2021 12:09As a warm up activity, lecturers were invited to log in to an online learning platform as students’ roles. The platform functions as an integrated system where students could log in to join classes, interact with their classmates and lecturers. Furthermore, they are also allowed to edit, submit assignments as well as viewing comments and feedback. The system is also designed for lecturers, which enables them to use features built exclusively for teaching activities such as lesson design and student management. Instead of using other social sites such as Zalo or Facebook to communicate with their students, the e-learning system combines all they need such as Course Information, Course management, Tracking performance and so on for easier and organized class management.

Another topic at the webinar was the significance of digital transformation and its opportunities & challenges. In general, digital transformation is the integration of digital technology into all aspects of life. The application of digital transformation helps educational institutes manage, plan and operate effectively all resources in a university (data, finance, library, supplies). Establishing a shared system by utilizing digital transformation will enable individuals and departments to connect and share data easily with each other. Therefore, it contributes to the full development of the university.
The current situation is also a valuable chance to conduct digital transformation in the education sector. Teaching activities have taken place on online platforms due to the prolonged pandemic. The fact proves that the 4.0 education trend is a great opportunity to develop and promote digital transformation in educational institutes. Besides its advantages, there are still challenges that organizations and institutes have to deal with on the road to digitalisation. Some are still showing hesitation to changes, data sharing and collaboration. It is also worth-mentioning that a majority of universities fail to move to digitalisation due to limited resources.
