, 15/08/2016 11:08After signing an agreement with the Northern Illinois University, the Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies (CVSEAS) started to receive students for study and sightseeing trips with FLAS Funding awarded by the US government.
Last summer, from June 08 to July 18, 2015, CVSEAS admitted the first student under this program named Krista Albers of the Northern Illinois University, who came to learn Vietnamese. That was a study and sightseeing tour organized under the collaboration between CVSEAS and the Center for Southeast Asian Studies, Northern Illinois University, with the grant from FLAS Funding.
This year’s summer CVSEAS continued to welcome Tuyen Nguyen under the same program taking place from June 27 to August 05, 2016 in Vietnam. She is the second student eligible for FLAS Funding, which provides grants for US students to learn the Vietnamese language at intermediate and advanced levels at Vietnam National University – Ho Chi Minh City.
Tuyen Nguyen is a student of the Community College of Medicine, University of California (US). Her purpose of coming to Vietnam to learn the language is to do her job better, for there are a lot of Vietnamese speakers in the place she is having an internship and will be working in the US.
