, 09/02/2011 08:02On January 27, 2011, the Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies attended a banquet on the occasion of the 62nd Republic of India Day organized by the Indian Consulate General of Ho Chi Minh City.
Mr. Abhay Thakur, Consul General of India in Ho Chi Minh City is very pleased to introduce the socio-economic achievements that India has achieved. These achievements in recent decades have really stood out. India is currently the fourth largest economy in the world in purchasing power parity (PPP) with a growth rate of 8.5% in 2010. India is currently among the top 10 countries in the top destination. Private investment in the world with foreign direct investment (FDI) reached 34.6 billion dollars.
The relationship between India and Vietnam is based on goodwill from both sides, built by President Ho Chi Minh and Prime Minister Nehru. With India's "Eastbound" policy, India's relations with Vietnam and ASEAN countries are increasingly tightened.
The economic and trade relations of the two countries have also been strengthened. It is estimated that two-way trade has increased by more than 25% in 2010 to reach the highest level ever with nearly US $ 2.6 billion.
