New Consul General, Hida Harumitsu, celebrated the Birthday of His Imperial Majesty the Emperor Akihito
, 28/04/2011 08:04On December 9th, 2010, Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies took part in the reception to celebrate the Birthday of His Imperial Majesty the Emperor Akihito held by Consul-General of Japan in Ho Chi Minh City. Attending the meeting were Consul-General of Japan, Hida Harumitsu, and many leaders in HCMC.
The relationship between Japan and Vietnam has been developed robustly in recent years. The leaders of the two Governments have visited each other and signed many important documents of which is the cooperation of Japan in exploitation of rare earths and construction of the second nuclear power plant in Vietnam.
Japan is the largest ODA donor country to Vietnam to construct many big projects such as Can Tho bridge, East-West highway, Thu Thiem tunnel, etc. In terms of foreign direct investment, Japan has been the top country in regards to net disbursement basis.
In the cultural and educational arena, Japan has supported Vietnam greatly. The number of Vietnamese students studying in Japan has increased dramatically. Especially, in recent years, Consulate-General of Japan in Ho Chi Minh City has helped Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies hold two international symposia and many small and medium workshops and seminars, aid everybody to understand deeply Japanese culture.
