DISCUSSION SESSION ON ''ECONOMIC REFORM IN VIETNAM AND BUSINESS ACTIVITIES WITH ASEAN COUNTRIES'' AT THAMMASAT UNIVERSITY, RANGSIT, THAILAND

, 10/04/2019 08:04

On March 25th, Dr. Tran Dinh Lam attended a meeting session on “Economic Reform in Vietnam and Business Activities with ASEAN Countries” with students from Thammasat University, Rangsit, Thailand at the invitation of Prof. Chawalit Jeenanunta who is a partner member of the TOURIST project. The meeting was one day before the 4th TOURIST Expert Training at Burapha University.

Vietnam has achieved some remarkable results from its 1986 economic reform period: from a poor country with 450,000 tons of food import due to inefficient management, it rose to a middle-income country and the second largest rice export in the world.

However, Vietnam needs to learn from other regional countries to speed up its reform process and achieve success in industrialization. Through business activities, Vietnam can also develop human resources and promote friendly environment in ASEAN community.

At the meeting, Prof. Chawalit Jeenanunta – Thammasat University cited some numbers on Vietnamese and Cambodia student studying here as part of his university plan to promote integration with other regional universities. Thailand Princess also sponsors many scholarships for Cambodia students. Personally, he expressed high hope of tightening relationships between Thailand and other countries through student exchange.

Sharing his thoughts on studying for his Master Art Degree at Thammasat University, Mr. Phirom Chea spoke of how his study helped him and how he would use his knowledge to help his own country.
