MEETING WITH PROF. DR. R. SCOTT FREY

On the afternoon of August 17th, 2010, Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies met with Prof. Dr. R. Scott Frey from the University of Tennessee, the United States.

This is a pre-trip in the program of survey and research on environment by Prof. Scott in Vietnam and Cambodia. Under the program, after completing the formalities, Prof. Scot will take approximately 14 students from the University of Tennessee in Sociology and Environment to Vietnam and Cambodia to do a survey and research on environment in both countries. In the project the team will study the environmental pollution and the human responses to the changes of the environment and on that basis they will work out feasible solutions.

During the one-semester trip of survey and research, the team will spend their time on contacting and exchanging with the students and scientists in environment in both countries. This will be an opportunity for the two parties to exchange and share the information about environmental sciences.

The program of survey and research, when completed, will be one of the scientific contributions to the socio-economic development of both Vietnam and Cambodia. Moreover, according to Prof. Scott, the work will contribute to increasing the scientific collaboration between the U.S. and two Southeast Asian countries.
